Dear Alumni
Greetings from the IARI Alumni Association!
As you know, our Association had organised a National Symposium and the Alumni Meet on 22nd June 2024, attended in person and in virtual mode by a large number of our members. While everyone expressed great appreciation for their Alma Mater, some expressed concerns regarding the declining standards of teaching and quality of research. Improving the teaching quality has assumed a greater significance as the Graduate School has now started undergraduate programme since the last Academic Year. Similarly, in an era of fast scientific progress globally using multi-disciplinary tools and techniques, our PG students need to be groomed accordingly to pursue research in the cutting-edge disciplines with greater confidence, matching the international standards. In this context our senior alumni from India and abroad have expressed their willingness to support the cause through IAA and mentor and guide our IARI students and faculty.
IAA, therefore, proposes to organise meaningful interactive activities throughout the year, bringing its members and students together and opening dialogues. To begin with, IAA plans to organise periodic motivational lectures by our distinguished alumni on this platform, followed by a session of active interaction with the students and faculty of IARI. To encourage scholastic excellence and support research of the scientists, IAA also plans to institute Excellence Awards, Distinguished Professor Chairs, Travel Grants etc. to deserving students and faculty.
You would agree that implementing all the above-mentioned activities requires substantial financial resources. Therefore, we appeal to each one of you to come forward and contribute generously towards this noble cause. It has been decided by the EC to have the following categories of donors:
- Gold: ₹ 5 lakhs
- Silver: ₹ 3 lakhs
- Bronze: ₹ 1 lakh
We are happy to inform that, to begin with, Dr RS Paroda and Dr BM Prasanna have donated in the Gold category, while seven of the EC members have committed for the Bronze category. Responding to the appeal of our President, the following esteemed alumni have either donated or committed to donate in the Gold category: Dr Mohan Saxena, Dr Mohan Kohli, Dr GR Chintala, Dr Rattan Lal, Dr Himanshu Pathak, Dr Ashok Kumar Singh, Dr C Viswanathan, Dr Arabinda Padhee, Dr Sanjay Swarup and Dr Baskar Reddy.
In addition, we have so far received payments/commitments of Dr ML Jat and Dr Yash Seharawat in Silver category, and from over 50 alumni in the Bronze category. Besides the members of the IAA, we have also received commitment of donations in various categories from several well-wishers of IARI, through they are not IARI alumni.
Note: As this is a voluntary donation, no amount is too small! However, donations above ₹ 20,000 will be much appreciated. In addition, one can also contribute towards an Endowment Fund for a specific purpose. Guidelines for which are being drafted by a Sub-Committee on Resource Generation. The same will be shared with you in due course once finalized.
Knowing the strength of our fraternity in every professional field, we are confident that we will be able to generate adequate resources for moving forward with many of the above listed activities, which will significantly contribute towards building IARI as an institution of global standing and excellence.
Looking forward to your generous support and cooperation,
With best regards,
Malavika Dadlani and BM Prasanna
